Firm helps sponsor Knoxville Challenger charity tennis tournament

Posted on October 10, 2013

Watson, Roach, Batson, Rowell & Lauderback, PLC is a proud sponsor of the 2013 Knoxville Challenger which is a $50,000 men’s pro tennis tournament held at the University of Tennessee Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center from Tuesday through Sunday, November 5-10, 2013.  This is the biggest professional tennis event in our region and is an opportunity to see (up close) the rising stars of tomorrow.  Nearly all of the current top ranked U.S. players (Mardy Fish, John Isner, James Blake, Ryan Harrison) played in the Knoxville Challenger as they were climbing the world rankings.  Challenger tournaments attract players (usually half American and half international) with world rankings between 80 and 250. These players are fighting for ranking points so that they can compete at the Grand Slam level.

The Knoxville Challenger is being run for the benefit of a local not-for-profit organization, The Helen Ross McNabb Center, which provides mental health care, substance abuse treatment, and social services to children, adults and families.  Over 170 sponsors and 300 volunteers have come together to make this the largest fundraising special event for the Center.

Tickets: General Admission tickets of $10/day will be available at the gate. There are also a limited number of $25 full week passes. Matches will begin at 10:00am and finish late in the evening.

Parking:  A free designated public parking area, SC40 is located to the left of the railroad trestle off of Kingston Pike in front of the Kingston Pike Building (2309 Kingston Pike).  A complimentary direct bus shuttle service provides quick transportation to the Tennis Center.

Volunteers needed:  Please visit the tournament website,  This website allows people to sign up to be a volunteer and/or a ball person and will soon be updated with draws, results, schedules, live scoring, live video, maps, and sponsor information.
